Few things you can do when you are unemployed

One of the main reasons for me to rebuild my website was the excess of time I’ve gained after get fired. Let’s face it: It’s almost impossible to go out spend some time walking as it’s damn cold outside (around 4C). I even like cold weather but...

So, as I don’t want to get crazy while looking for a new job, I’ve decided to do some things in parallel. Here is the list:

  1. Create a website/blog: I made this one you are reading now. I was postponing the release since… Since when? August/2009? Oh God… Anyway, in my case it’s very good to make such things as it’s fully related with my career. So, for me, it’s a kind of practice (even if this website is full of bugs – But I have a good excuse for them);
  2. Make sports: As I said before, it’s very cold and impossible to go outside even for a short walk. You can do some exercises at home, if you don’t have a gym membership, or play Wii Sports Resort, in case you have Nintendo Wii (I do!);
  3. Manage something: There are some possibilities of being a coach or manager in some sport for children. It’s a good chance to see if you are good of being a manager or not. Unfortunately I can’t do that due the language barrier (I don’t know Czech language). But I can still play my Football Manager. I am training Belarus (national team) and Desportiva Capixaba (Brazilian third division club) and I am a quite good virtual manager;
  4. Learn something new or improve your skills: That’s good if you want to move forward on your career or even change its focus. Currently I am watching/reading some things at Microsoft Learning portal and considering a Microsoft Certification. Also, I am thinking about read some books but I am completely out of ideas. I’ve read some time ago "Who moved my cheese?" and "The Servant: A Simple Story About the True Essence of Leadership". Very good books.

This list is working for now. In case I will discover other things I will make another list. :)
